ellura advocate Candace Cable shares her inspiring journey

Growing up in southern California, I was active in the outdoor lifestyle but not an avid athlete. That changed after my spinal cord injury at the age of 21. Determined to redefine and regain my health and my lifestyle, I found new peers and mentors with spinal cord injuries who were active in competitive sports. I followed their lead and became a 9 time Paralympian and 12 time medalist in 3 sports. My life was changed forever and I had the opportunity to help others change their lives also.

Throughout my years of traveling around the world as a competitive athlete, foremost in my mind was how to stay healthy. Much of the time I brought my own food, filtered my water and always carried my medications with me. My spinal cord injury had many repercussions on my health with one stand out -- bladder infections. A bladder infection could, in a matter of twelve hours, stealthily shroud my body in fatigue, aches and pain as well as cloud my mind. In those days I had no choice; I had to reach for antibiotics. Each time, I endlessly grappled with this decision as it went against all my carefully planned health choices.

"Fortunately, I found ellura, which gives me a safe and natural alternative to the side effects and risks of frequent antibiotic use for UTI prevention."

Although I have retired as a competitive athlete, I still travel extensively and my health is just as important as ever. Fortunately, I found ellura, which gives me a safe and natural alternative to the side effects and risks of frequent antibiotic use for UTI prevention. So far, ellura has been successful in keeping my bladder free of infection and has helped me remain true to my commitment to health and wellness. My advocacy as a writer, speaker and visual media producer for the health and inclusion of people with disabilities can only happen if I maintain my own health and wellness. ellura is an aid in my mission to help ensure my success.
