Stick it to rUTIs - without antibiotics

rUTI prophylaxis without antibiotics, implementing AUA Guidelines

In 2019, the American Urological Association (AUA) released its new guidelines for recurrent UTIs, titled “Recurrent Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections in Women: AUA/CUA/SUFU Guideline.” The guidelines emphasize the need for non-antibiotic alternatives for prevention and only endorse cranberry for mitigation of rUTIs.

Clinical Studies

ellura is a medical-grade supplement backed by 18 published clinical trials and nine International Herbal Medicine approvals.  Our researchers identified soluble bioactive PAC (proanthocyanidins) in only pure cranberry juice extract. 36 mg of soluble bioactive PAC is responsible for preventing bacterial adhesion to the uroepithelium of the urinary tract, and its subsequent role in rUTI prophylaxis.

Cranberry supplements are not all created equal

When comparing ellura with other cranberry products, the active ingredient in ellura demonstrates exceptionally high bacterial Anti-Adhesion Activity (AAA), PAC content and product stability. ellura exerts as much as 30% more AAA than the most potent insoluble whole berry product and 125% more AAA than the average cranberry supplement. AAA is not detectable in some cranberry supplements. There is a large amount of variability in the amount and AAA of PAC in commercially available cranberry products.

You can request a patient material kit that will include:

  • Patient brochures
  • UTI cards
  • Starter capsules (Note: the active ingredient offers 24-hour anti-adhesion protection of the urinary tract wall and must be taken daily, these 2 starter capsules are a reminder to patients to order and are not sufficient for ongoing UTI protection.)
